The temple was commissioned by Seth Jai Ram (Jeth Ram) Paliwal, a prominent businessman and devotee of Lord Ganesha. The Moti Dungri Ganesh Temple is one of Jaipur's most famous and sacred temples. According to legend, the idol of Lord Ganesha was being transported from Udaipur. It was decided that wherever the bullock cart stopped for the first time, the idol would be installed. The cart stopped at the foot of Moti Dungri Hill, and the temple was built at that location in 1761. The temple attracts thousands of devotees every day, especially on Wednesdays and during Ganesh Chaturthi.
